SIMULATION

Driving simulation

Driving simulators have been used at Renault for about 10 years. Several have been developped by the Research Department since 1989. A new dynamic simulator (beside) has been recently installed at the Technocentre (R&D facility) in 1999. Driving simulators are being used in the frame of new vehicle development cycle or research activities. Main applications are car light simulation, ergnonomics, vehicle control systems, comfort and accidentology.

Virtual reality

The use of virtual reality technologies allows a visualisation 3D, interactive, and immersive of geometric, color and materials data. At Renault, these technologies are being used in various domains like vehicle design (visualisation of vehicle architecture during the upstream phase), marketing (sales tool), or color and materials visualisation. The role of Renault’s Technical Center of Simulation in this field is to prototype and develop tools for its customers, it is also to realise benchmarks and technological surveys.
